Deflation in Dublins gay scene – a sign of the times

It started three weeks ago with the perfectly preposterous half price sale in Panti bar. Now (30 minutes ago via Facebook), Capital bars have hit back with the following promotions in the George tonight;

Drink promo’s for tonight … Pt of miller €3.50 …Quater Bt Wine €3.50 .. WKD €3.50… Jagerbomb €3.50 Bt Stella €3.50 Huzzar Vodka €3.50 Valid till 11pm Sundays only…

Looks like Capital bars are suffering and Panti appears to be the winner in this round.  I was at Pantibar last Sunday, and the week before and the place was heaving. Great atmosphere to boot. I decided to give it a miss this week due to the difficulty experienced in getting up for work the following morning.

Finally, some value on the gay scene in Dublin and by all accounts, it looks like the Dublin gays are voting with their feet.

Goodbye 2009 and hello 2010. The ‘naughties’ have passed and what a decade indeed! I met boyfriend in the naughties, graduated from university, entered the workforce, qualified as an accountant, moved in with boyfriend, went on some wonderful holidays with boyfriend… The list goes on.

A new year brings new opportunities and the perfect way to mark this is to make some new years resolutions. I’m going with the common resolution to get fit. I have signed up or the ‘Connemarathon‘ half marathon in April so the ‘get fit’ theme ties in nicely with that. The road to fitness can be blocked by the demon drink so I have decided to give up the booze for January and February to help my new strict regime.
